Maynard Crossing Retail Center
Construction Type: Steel, Masonry and Concrete
Service Performed: Turnkey Site and Building
Looking closely at the canopy which hovers over this retail center’s front entry doors, one might notice that there is a continuous concrete awning suspended by steel rods. This somewhat pricey element represents an architectural statement that was important to both the client and their architect. The repeat client, a man and wife couple comprised of a sculptor/artist and a restauranteur, placed a high importance on certain artistic details, even though they were not always readily apparent.
The site was a challenging one on which grade had to be introduced in order to handle storm water and sidewalks became minor retaining walls that still met the prevailing codes. This small center features only few boutique retail spaces befitting such an artistic expression. It is the sister building to the first project Metrocon built on the same site.
